My name is Dan MacPherson, I’m an MFL teacher at a grammar school in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, and I’m currently finishing the Graduate Teacher Programme . I graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in June 2012, having studied French and Italian.
My main interests in education are:
– Social mobility and Oxbridge entrance.
– Behaviour Management.
– Embracing new technology and Web 2.0 in schools in a lasting and worthwhile way.
The main purpose of this blog will be to provide an outlet for me to work through ideas, make suggestions for the future and engage in the ever-changing landscape of education. The views expressed here are my own, and are not representative of my workplace or any political party. That said, my views and suggestions are a result of experiences and so examples may be drawn from work placements/ my current place of work.
I accept that I am a new, and inexperienced teacher, and apologise in advance for any naivety or lack of perspective expressed here. This is one of the reasons for writing. I’d like to use this space to ‘test the water’ and modify these ideas so that, if ever given the opportunity to implement them, I can do so knowing they have been subject to rigorous analysis and debate.
